Will there be Marriages and Births in Heaven and on the New Earth?

Our question for today is: Will there be Marriages and Births in Heaven and on the New Earth?

During the time of Jesus there were people who asked Jesus the same question, and He gave them an answer, which will also be our answer for today.

Luk 20:27  Then came to him certain of the Sadducees, which deny that there is any resurrection; and they asked him,

Luk 20:28  Saying, Master, Moses wrote unto us, If any man’s brother die, having a wife, and he die without children, that his brother should take his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother.

Luk 20:29  There were therefore seven brethren: and the first took a wife, and died without children.

Luk 20:30  And the second took her to wife, and he died childless.

Luk 20:31  And the third took her; and in like manner the seven also: and they left no children, and died.

Luk 20:32  Last of all the woman died also.

Luk 20:33  Therefore in the resurrection whose wife of them is she? for seven had her to wife.

These men asked a very valid question. If your first wife died, and you married again, when Jesus takes you to heaven, who will be your wife? Your first wife, or your second wife, or both?

Luk 20:34  And Jesus answering said unto them, The children of this world marry, and are given in marriage:

Luk 20:35  But they which shall be accounted worthy to obtain that world, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry, nor are given in marriage:

Luk 20:36  Neither can they die any more: for they are equal unto the angels; and are the children of God, being the children of the resurrection.

Jesus’ Words are clear. They which will ultimately obtain the new Earth and after the resurrection go to heaven, will be like the angels, and therefore will neither marry, nor are given in marriage.

This truth is also presented in the book Selected Messages, Volume 1, p. 172 and says, “There are men today who express their belief that there will be marriages and births in the new earth; but those who believe the Scriptures cannot accept such doctrines. The doctrine that children will be born in the new earth is not a part of the “sure word of prophecy” (2 Peter 1:19). The words of Christ are too plain to be misunderstood. They should forever settle the question of marriages and births in the new earth. Neither those who shall be raised from the dead, nor those who shall be translated without seeing death, will marry or be given in marriage. They will be as the angels of God, members of the royal family.”

God has something greater planned for us – to be members of the royal family.

Many people believe that because there were marriages and births in the beginning, as recorded in Genesis, therefore there will also be marriages and births in heaven and on the new earth. But they fail to notice that there are some things that will not be the same, for example

Gen 1:5  And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night.

So in the beginning, in Genesis, there was day and night.

On the earth made new Rev 22:5  And there shall be no night there

Gen 1:10  And God called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called he Seas:

In the beginning, in Genesis, there were seas.

But the Bible says in Rev 21:1  And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.

God has something greater in store – even greater than marriage and having children!

Will there be Marriages and Births in Heaven and on the New Earth?

The words of Christ in Luke 20:35 are too plain to be misunderstood. They should forever settle the question of marriages and births in the new earth. Neither those who shall be raised from the dead, nor those who shall be translated without seeing death, will marry or be given in marriage. They will be as the angels of God, members of the royal family.

Amen
